Shaker A Mousa finished his PhD from Ohio State University, College of Medicine, Columbus, OH and Post-doctoral Fellowship, University of Kentucky, Lexington KY. He also received his MBA from Widener University, Chester, PA. He is currently an endowed tenure Professor and Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute and Vice Provost for Research at ACPHS. Prior to his academic career, he was a senior Scientist and fellow at The DuPont Pharmaceutical Company for 17 years, where he contributed to the discovery and development of several FDA approved and globally marketed diagnostics and therapeutics. He holds over 350 US and International Patents discovering novel anti-angiogenesis strategies, antithrombotics, anti-integrins, anti-cancer, and non-invasive diagnostic imaging approaches employing various nanotechnology platforms. His has published more than 1,000 journal articles, book chapters, published patents, and books as editor and author. He is a member of several NIH study sections, and the Editorial Board Member of several high impact Journals. His research has focused on diagnostics and therapeutics of angiogenesis-related disorders, thrombosis, vascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Mousa's current research interests include: Adhesion molecules in health and diseases, Novel therapeutic and diagnostic targets, Treatment and prevention of ischemic and coronary artery diseases, Angiogenesis modulation, vascular and tissue remodeling, and novel anti-platelet, anti-thrombotic and anti-ischemic therapies. Dr. Mousa received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University, completed postdoctoral research in Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the University of Kentucky and earned his MBA from Widener University. A native of Alexandria, Egypt, he received his B.Pharm. and M.Sc. degrees from Alexandria University. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (FACB), and is a member of several national and international societies. He was recently awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Alain L Fymat is a medical scientist and an educator. He was educated at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and the University of California at Los Angeles. He is the current President/CEO and Professor at the International Institute of Medicine and Science with a previous appointment as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Professor at the Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine. He was formerly Professor of Radiology, Radiological Sciences, Radiation Medicine (Oncology), Critical Care Medicine, and Physics at several U.S. and European Universities. Previously, he was Deputy Director (Western Region) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (Office of Research Oversight), and Director of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center and for a time Acting Chair of Radiology at its Loma Linda, California Medical Center. He has extensively published (~ 350 publications including patents, books & monographs, book chapters, refereed articles) and has lectured extensively in the USA, Africa and Asia. He has been the recipient of numerous research grants from government, academia and private industry, and has consulted extensively with these entities. He is Honorable Editor of the International Journal of Cancer Prevention and Current Research and the International Journal of Nanomedicine Research. He s also Editor of the Global Journal of Nanomedicine and the Journal of Nanobiotechnology. He is a Board member of several institutions and Health Advisor of the American Heart & Stroke Association (Coachella Valley Division, California).

Dr. Fymat’s current research interests lie at the interface between science and medicine, particularly molecular/personal/precision medicine, nanomedicine, human genetics/epigenetics/ecogenetics, and pharmacogenomics. His most recent publications deal with magnetic resonance Imaging with nanocontrasting materials, nanotechnology and cancer, nanochemotherapy, nanoneurology, natural and synthetic immunotherapy, drug delivery including across the brain protective barriers, and drug manufacturing in Africa.

Ranendra N Saha, Senior Professor and Director of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus and also Shri B K Birla and Sarala Birla Chair Professor, studied Pharmacy at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and has 36 years of teaching, research and academic administration experience. He has already guided 20 doctoral students and 5 more are doing under him, apart from many graduate students. He has developed and transferred technologies on drug delivery systems, granted patent, commercialized designed products, completed industry sponsored projects. He has received several awards including Best Pharmacy Teacher of India Award in 2005, Pharmacy Professional of the year 2013. Professor Jagat R Kanwar is the Head and team leader of Nanomedicine-Laboratory of Immunology and Molecular Biomedical Research (NLIMBR), School of Medicine, Faculty of Health, Deakin University, Australia. Professor Kanwar has an international reputation and expertise in investigating fundamental and applied molecular signalling aspects of pathogenesis of cancer, chronic inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases, thereby, leading to the development of treatment strategies from bench to bedside. He has more than 150 research publications in high impact factor and peer reviewed international journals, 27 book chapters and 3 edited books. Prof Kanwar’s research has generated several patents/PCTs with more than five licensed patents for commercialization to BioPharma industry. His group is currently working on drug discovery and nanomedicine for oral and systemic drug delivery of a range of natural bioactive and biomacromolecules (proteins/peptides, siRNAs and aptamers) for targeting survivin, HIF-1α and other apoptotic and inflammatory cell signalling molecules in cancer, chronic inflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. His research combines Immunology with state of the art and cutting edge techniques in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Nanobiotechnology and visualization to investigate the pathways in which key molecules are regulated in both normal and disease states. A number of in vitro human cell/tissue based co-culture models for cancers, microbial infections; autoimmune diseases; chronic inflammatory diseases (osteoarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease), gut health, neurodegeneration and immunomodulation have been developed by his group. Kanwar’s main research objective is to understand and target the mechanisms involved at the molecular and sub cellular level which gives us an edge over the prevalent targeting techniques. He carries out both academic and commercial research projects and develops new approaches for the diagnosis, treatment, and nanomedicine based new generation delivery systems. His recent research focus on locked nucleic acid (LNA) LNA-modified aptamers conjugated "double targeted nano-bullet nanocapsules" with natural anti-tumour proteins which specifically target cancer cells.

Our nanomedicine laboratory of immunology and molecular biomedical research (NLIMBR) is discovering the novel and safe targeted nanomedicine based nano-nutraceuticals for cancers, autoimmune disorders and inflammatory diseases. We also vested the molecular diagnosis including role of a non-invasive exosomes in blood, inflammatory sites and cancer tissues. Our research focused on cancer and inflammatory autoimmune diseases aims to investigate the underlying mechanisms involved in apoptosis, autophagy and inflammation by targeting the production of cytokines, chemokines, oxygen radicals and matrix metalloproteinase. Our research also aims to investigate the nanotherapeutics encapsulating peptides, LNA modified aptamers/miRNAs/siRNA in vivo models. We have made significant progress in field of ocular drug delivery and microfluidic and Lab-on-a-Chip devices techniques for cancer cells as well as stem cell capture, disease specific biomarkers and exosomes.

Dr.Shyam S. Mohapatra is a Distinguished USF Health Professor, Director of the Division of Translational Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Associate Dean of Graduate programs at the College of Pharmacy in the University of South Florida. He also directs the USF Center for Research and Education in Nanobioengineering and is a Research Career Scientist at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. He has published over 200 papers and holds over 30 U.S. and foreign patents. He is a Fellow of the AAAAI, NAI, AIMBE and AAAS and a 2014 Inductee of the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame.

His research has focused on biology of inflammation starting with allergic-immunologic inflammation of the lung following exposure to allergens and respiratory syncytial virus infection and potential of biologic/gene-based as therapeutic modalities. Developing novel nanoscale technologies to develop transforming inventions and translate research from the lab benches to in vivo applications in pre-clinical settings and further to human clinical trials has been and continue to be my passion in research. I have always been interested in multi-disciplinary research developing and utilizing cutting-edge technologies in immunology, cell biology, virology, genomics, epigenomics and nanotechnology (tumor-on-a-chip, biosensing and nano-gene-drug delivery, cell-nano delivery) to advance diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in cancers, traumatic brain injury, respiratory syncytial virus, allergy and asthma.

Fenniri received all his degrees from the Université de Strasbourg, France. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Scripps Research Institute, CA, USA, he moved to Purdue University, IN, USA, where he initiated his independent academic career, and established the Purdue Laboratory for Chemical Nanotechnology (1999). In 2003, He joined the National Research Council as a founding member of the National Institute for Nanotechnology and as professor of chemistry and bioengineering at the University of Alberta (Canada, 2003-2013). Fenniri is currently Professor of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA. Fenniri’s contributions appeared in over 220 publications, 20 patents and patent applications, and over 500 contributed national and international conference papers. Fenniri has also lectured extensively around the globe and has been an invited professor at several institutes and universities.

Dr. Subhra Mohapatra has completed her PhD from University of Manitoba, Canada and postdoctoral studies at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Molecular Medicine in the Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida. During last 10 years, she has trained 13 postdocs and 16 graduate students involved in multidisciplinary research, such as biology, immunology, nanoscience and nanotechnology fields. She has authored over 62 scientific papers and holds 9 US patents. Her research is funded by the National Institute of Health, Veterans Administration and Florida Department of Health. Her research is focused on understanding the role of stromal cells in the tumor microenvironment that play a critical role in tumor growth and recurrence. We use nanotechnology–integrated cellular and molecular approaches to dissect major signaling pathways in cancers and identify novel drug targets and biomarkers and experimental therapeutics for cancer. We have also synthesized 3D/4D polymeric nano/micro scaffolds for studying tumor-stroma interactions and anticancer drug targets. We are also investigating the mechanism of anti-inflammatory triggers for traumatic brain injury.

Prof George Altankov is ICREA Research Professor in the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia. He is a well- recognized scientist in the field of cell-biomaterials interaction and ECM organization. He got his MD in 1974 in Varna Medical Institute, Bulgaria, where also accomplished his PhD (1984). In 1991-1993 he made his postdoc in Southwestern Medical School at Dallas performing studies on the molecular mechanisms of cell adhesion. During his subsequent work in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1985-2005) he grew up to full professor, head of department and deputy Director of the Institute of Biophysics in Sofia. His studies, performed in close collaboration with GKSS Research Center (Germany), were among the first highlighting that tissue compatibility of materials is strongly dependent on the ability of cells to reorganize surface associated matrix proteins, such as fibronectin, vitronectin, fibrinogen and collagen. Other lines of research that boosts his reputation in tissue engineering and nanomedicine are the pioneering studies on the integrin dynamic, cellular interaction with synthetic membranes, nonofibers design for guiding the cellular behaviour. His studies resulting in more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and books that are frequently cited.

Dr Abbas Amini is an assistant professor at Western Sydney University, ACK, and the member of graduate supervisory board. After obtaining PhD, he conducted research with other Australian universities, as a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash and Deakin Universities, and as a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne. His fine outcomes have been presented in high impact factor journals, e.g., Nature publication group, and a recent published book in 2016. Mohsen Adeli has completed his PhD at the age of 31 years from Tabriz University and postdoctoral studies from Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Sharif University of Technology. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of full professor in chemistry. In 2014, he was invited to the Institut für Chemie and Biochemie at Freie Universität Berlin as a guest professor within the SFB765 for three years. He has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute.

His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of functional hybrid nanomaterials. Functionalization of carbon-based nanomaterials including carbon nanotubes, graphenes and fullerenes by dendrimers and hyperbranched polymers for biomedical applications is the focus of his current research.
